Ice Skating Uphill...the battle of weight loss

Ever wonder why you just can't burn off those last few pounds? Ever think about why you try not to be lazy, yet your body is so tired?

If those thoughts ever came to mind, you're in luck. It's the food you eat. It's also the portion size. You'll never hear any of these trendy diet plans talk about cutting portions. And you'll never hear about how if you order food from them, what preservatives they put in there. You learn that AFTER you pay for it.

Do you like soda, or even diet soda? Well, you're double screwed! Soda has High Fructose Corn Syrup, or what they now call "Corn Sugar". Diet soda has Aspartame. Unaware of these lovely additives? Let me help educate...

Sugar cane is composed of 50% Fructose, 50% Glucose. High Fructose Corn Syrup is composed of 65% Fructose, 35% Glucose. This means that it will take longer for your body to break down High Fructose Corn Syrup than regular sugar cane. Fructose also contributes to dehydration. So the higher percentage of fructose, the more water you need. Isn't that a catch 22...drink soda because you're thirsty, yet the drink is making you even more thirsty. High Fructose Corn Syrup is also in fast food, maple syrup (unless naturally made), fruit drinks, iced tea, etc.

So what happens when you have excess Fructose in your system? Simple...turns to fat. So you're putting in 15% more fat in your body than what it's used to with regular sugar cane. Hence, the obesity problem we have today. Why do they use HFCS? Simple...it's 1/3 the price to produce compared to sugar cane. Plus the FDA approved it. You would think the FDA was concerned for our health, but like our government, it's all about the money.

Aspartame has been linked to cancer. It's also infused with Methanol. Methanol is a wood alcohol/poison.
Methanol breaks down into formic acid and formaldehyde in the body. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. An EPA assessment of methanol states that methanol "is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic." The recommend a limit of consumption of 7.8 mg/day. A one-liter (approx. 1 quart) aspartame-sweetened beverage contains about 56 mg of methanol. Heavy users of aspartame-containing products consume as much as 250 mg of methanol daily or 32 times the EPA limit.

The most well known problems from methanol poisoning are vision problems. Formaldehyde is a known carcinogen, causes retinal damage, interferes with DNA replication, and causes birth defects. Due to the lack of a couple of key enzymes, humans are many times more sensitive to the toxic effects of methanol than animals. Therefore, tests of aspartame or methanol on animals do not accurately reflect the danger for humans. As pointed out by Dr Woodrow C. Monte, Director of the Food Science and Nutrition Laboratory at Arizona State University, "There are no human or mammalian studies to evaluate the possible mutagenic, teratogenic, or carcinogenic effects of chronic administration of methyl alcohol." (To read more about this, here is the link.... http://www.dorway.com/badnews.html )

FDA also approved Aspartame as well. Starting to see a pattern? The FDA was also granted unlimited power per HR2751-S510 that was passed last year in 2010. These crooks have been the main contributor to obesity and lazyness. Our own government is out to make us fat and lazy. Why would they do that? Simple...to prevent what is happening in Egypt. Fat and lazy people don't protest, don't research, don't really do much of anything. That's why TV is so popular.

So what can you do to prevent this from happening to you? HFCS is in a lot of things, so cutting out the main contributors is key. First off, stop drinking soda. Even if it's diet, just stop. First you'll go through "caffeine headaches" for a few days, but then they no longer come back. Go 2 weeks without it and you'll start feeling much better inside. Plus you will be able to wake up without coffee or any other caffeine-oriented fixes. What I do is either drink water or kool-aid. Kool-aid is made from sugar cane that YOU add in. I have found that there is enough sugar in a 16oz can of coke as there is in a 1 gallon pitcher of kool-aid. Boil a can of soda into a pot or pan and see the excess sugar remaining. And remember, that' not sugar cane, but HFCS. So that's even worse and harder to break down. The only other drink I have is Orange Juice. Since it has natural hydration properties, plus Vitamin C, it's very good for your body.

So if you cut out anything with HFCS or Corn Sugar drink wise, you're already ahead of the game. Since a lot of foods (mainly fast food) has HFCS in it, the only logical thing is to cut down the portions. If you cup your hand, that is the actual size of your stomach. When you go out, the portions are 2-3 times that size. No wonder we feel tired after eating all that. It's pushing your body to work harder to push it through. The size of those portions, if broken up, could contribute to 3 meals, spread out 2-3 hours a portion. Instead, you are pushing 2-3 meals worth of food in one sitting instead of three. Portion size is the ultimate in controlling your weight.

To sum this up, HFCS and aspartame are very unhealhty. The FDA doesn't mind since it generates revenue. We can no longer rely on the government to look out for what's best for us. Get yourself educated. The most important thing in your life is your health. Without it, you wouldn't survive. Cut your portions in 1/2, drink less soda or any drinks containing HFCS, replace that with water, and exercise, and you should come out ahead of the game.
